Community-Based Rehabilitation Specialist (CBRS)

Job Description and Responsibilities

CBRS services are a direct extension of therapy and assist in the empowerment, growth, development, and enhancement to our clients' daily life. The overall goal of CBRS is to assist in the development of skills that help them prevent maladaptive behaviors that often have unwanted consequences, such as hospitalization and/or interactions with police. These skills typically surround trigger and symptom recognition and the appropriate management of such. Additionally, CBRS services help to educate and support clients as they strive to develop skills that help them achieve personalized goals associated with different areas of life. Generally, clients in CBRS services have been negatively impacted by symptoms or challenges specifically related to their mental health diagnosis. These impact often effect areas such as basic living skills,, finances, socialization in the community (social interaction), relationship struggles, and difficulty in coping with mental health challenges.

As mentioned above, CBRS services are an extension of therapy, so workers consistently collaborate and work together with the client's therapist to ensure the goals and skills being worked on pair with the clients therapy. CBRS services are to be conducted primarily in community settings. Beyond initial training, ongoing training occurs on a weekly basis.
